Frequently Asked Questions
If you cannot find the answer here, please feel free to contact me.
- When should I book my DJ?
- You should consider booking your DJ at least 8 to 9 months in advance. We prefer 12 months in advance. Remember the most popular months are June, July, September and October.
- What kind of music do you play?
- We carry a variety of music from 1938 through today. This is your event, not ours, so the music you want is what we play. There is no need to give us an entire list of songs unless that is what you feel comfortable with. Our DJs are very good at gauging the crowd for the type of genre to play.
- How many hours will you play music?
- Normally we charge in increments of 4 hours unless otherwise discussed prior to the event. There is no charge for setup or tear down.
- Our reception hall is small and we don't know where to put the DJ, but we want music.
- We have worked in a number of small venues. Please keep in mind that with the speakers, you may not want tables right next to the DJ, or sound may be a problem.
- Do we need to include the DJ in our head count for food?
- There is no requirement for you to feed us; however, it is much appreciated if you do. Please keep in mind that we are at your reception 1 to 2 hours before it starts and we are usually the last ones to leave.
- Is there a program we are supposed to follow throughout the night?
- If your event is a wedding, we will have all of the necessary information needed about the first dance, bridal party dance, father/daughter dance, mother/son dance, cutting the cake, bouquet toss, garter removal and any other special dances requested. The only thing we ask is that you show up and let us do the rest. This is your special day, and the last thing you need is to worry about your reception. You have spent a long time planning it, so enjoy it!
For special events, you tell us what order you'd like, and we will make it happen!
- Do you need to talk with our photographer/videographer?
- Prior to the start of your reception, a DJ will talk with your photographer/videographer to make them aware of the events for the evening. After dinner, we like to give the bride and groom a chance to talk with their guests by going table to table. After that, we start the program. Most of the time we will go through the cake cutting and all the dances without a long, drawn-out process. This gives you and your guests more time for dancing and having fun.
- Do we have to supply the DJ with anything at our event?
- The only thing we ask for is a 6' or 8' table (whatever is available) so we can put our equipment on it. If the event location will skirt the table, that is great. If not, please let us know so we can come prepared.
- Our event will be outdoors. Is there anything you need?
- When doing outdoor events, we will require some sort of shelter from the elements. Remember that electric and water do not mix. When the sun goes down, the dew settles and creates condensation, which can damage electronics.
We also need access to electricity unless you plan on supplying a generator (which is OK to do, but wired electricity is always preferred).
- When do you expect payment?
- We require a non-refundable deposit (unless otherwise discussed and approved) when signing a performance agreement. The remaining balance is due either the day of the event or prior to (whatever you are comfortable with). If paying the remaining balance the day of the event, it will be due at the time we start.
- How old is your equipment?
- Our equipment is less than one year old. We are constantly updating and upgrading equipment. The new BOSE tower speaker systems that we have begun to implement are state of the art and have amazing sound.
- What if there is equipment failure?
- Like anything else, problems can occur for a number of reasons. We always arrive early to set up and check for problems prior to the start of your event. However, problems can happen beyond our control. If there is equipment failure, we will attempt to fix it. If we cannot, there is back up equipment available if needed.
